As Labor Day approaches and the American worker finds herself/himself seemingly under constant seige, could there be a better time to comment on worker struggles with music?
From the Tea Party (THE CLASH & THE REVEREND HORTON HEAT) to corporate America (SPINAL TAP & FLYGUY) to the Progressive Left (RACHEL MADDOW & KEITH OLBERMANN), all points of view have influence in this 100 minute episode, but in the end it's all about the encouraging, promoting and celebrating of all those hard working women and men out there.
Special thanks to the WOMEN OF SDRD, KaRi @ The Prime Spot and Roller Derby / Accounting extraordinaire, Lace E. Underpants!

An episode in celebration of The Golden State, California.
Musical genres ranging from '60s surf guitar, '80s punk and all the way through to the local/"indie" music scene of the new century, ranging in styles from pop to punk and mild to wild, if it's even remotely associated with California, you're bound to find it here.
Check out the events page for yet even more roller derby info from San Diego & Long Beach. I've also added more links to some of my favorite local bands like Temper Tantrum, Unpopable, Willie Cash & The Cashiers, Desperation Squad and The Abe Lincoln Story.
So break out your quads, boogie boards and volleyballs because this is an episode guaranteed to get you in a California state of mind.
Special thanks to LBRD's EMME SIXTEEN for the episode flyer!!
Up next? The Kitchen Sink's 5TH ANNIVERSARY episode. Stay tuned...

An episode for the ebb and flow, the ups and downs, that life seems to be tossing, well...my way at least.
From the recent passing of a friend to having found myself in transition, times are hard and from what I can tell, it would appear that more than just a few of you out there are finding yourselves, your friends, your loved ones, strugging to make ends meet. And while this episode is by no means a cureall, maybe, MAYBE, some solace, some strength...some level of comfort to help you get from one day to the next can be gained.
Nearly 90-minutes of music to take you away from it all.
Tim Curry / REO Speedwagon / Portishead / The Beatles / Chris Rea / James Brown / Brian May (Queen) / Heatwave / Laurie Anderson / Prince / & CW McCall included to name but a few.
The usual LBRD infomation included; August 6th being the date of the next bout in Long Beach. (http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/118164)
Back to playing the best mix, the most diverse mix, of music you will hear anywhere.
Hang in there folks. Chest out, chin up and remember...
"It can't rain all the time."

The Kitchen Sink embraces the return of Autumn with an exploitation-filled episode celebrating the raunch, the gore, the violence, the occult and hilarity of drive-in movies past.
The Dickies
The Reverend Horton Heat
PJ Harvey
Hammerbox
Marvin Gaye
The Cramps
Robert Rodriguez
Black Sabbath
April March
Richard O'Brien
We've also included audio clips and trailers from some of the drive-in "classics" for good measure.
For those of you old enough to remember the excitement of the drive-in, this episode will either leave you trembling in fear (at how old you are) or laughing hysterically.

Welcome to what was easily the hardest show we've ever had to put together.
What was suppose to be a simple episode about cartoon superheroes became a near four month odyssey that morphed into something else entirely. How does one cull all this wonderful music and give it enough cohesion so it make any kind of "aurul sense"?
I don't know, but this is what we've come up with for your listening pleasure.
The Clash
Leon Klatzkin
50 Cent
Burgess Meredith
The Who
XTC
The Temptations
Charles Gray, Susan Sarandon & Barry Bostwick
Prodigy (featuring Pop Will Eat Itself)
David Bowie
W. Watts Biggers...and a whole lot more.
Music for heroes and music for villians.
We would love to have your feedback, so, please, leave a comment (good, bad or ugly).
THANK YOU for logging back on and spending some quality time with us.
